Our horses and ponies are all camp owned and are selected and trained by Arno Mares, the owner and director of the INTERNATIONAL RIDING CAMP. He has over 50 years of experience in training horses and riders.
The equestrian contacts that he has developed over the years in the USA, Russia and Argentina allow him to access a large number of exceptional horses and ponies for our equestrian camp. He carefully selects a wide range of horses to match different riding levels for hunt seat equitation, cross country jumping and polo.
Many hours are spent each year to find and train the horses that are the best fit for our campers, who range from advanced to beginner riders. Once a horse enters the equestrian camp program it stays with us until it is ready to retire.
Our campers really look forward to see the same horses from one year to the next.
Winter Equine Lease Program
Many of our ponies and horses are leased each winter to carefully selected campers and stables in the NY Metropolitan area. If you want to lease one of International Riding Camp horses or ponies for the winter, an early reservation is recommended to get the horse of your choice.
Our camper lease fee includes a saddle and bridle. Horse Transportation to your stable is available for a nominal fee by International Riding Camp’s Equine transport division or by a commercial shipper of your choice.
